Sora from Kingdom Hearts disconfirmed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Square Enix vice president says it's not in the plans

Thus far, we've only learned about the identity of one out of five characters present in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass. Joker from Persona 5 is currently playable as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 76th fighter.

Which character will be announced next? According to Square Enix's vice president, Shinji Hashimoto, it's not going to be Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series. If Hashimoto's statement is to be taken at face value, then Sora won't be part of the Fighters Pass at all.

Forest on Twitter stated that Shinji Hashimoto paid his future school a visit for a conference. Since his Tweet was in French, we have to rely on Google's translate function in order to understand what is being said.

"We asked him the question and no, Sora is not planned in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate," said Forest. Unfortunately this means that Sora will likely not be joining as one of the four remaining characters of the Fighters Pass.

Recall that Masahiro Sakurai previously stated that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's DLC choices have already been finalized by Nintendo. As a result of this, there is no Smash ballot or fan vote that's incoming.

Of course, let's assume that Sora actually has been planned to be one of the DLC fighters. If that were the case, then a non-disclosure agreement would very likely prevent Hashimoto from outright saying something like "yes, Sora is one of the unannounced characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate."

Still, a statement from an official Square Enix representative like this is very interesting. Unfortunately, we won't know the truth about Sora's chances until the character is officially revealed or all remaining Fighters Pass combatants are shown.
