Mortal Kombat 11 tier lists right now are guesstimates at best; Maximilian warns us not to be too hasty when concluding character strength and ability

'It's just goofy information!'

Hot takes are very fun and great for driving discussion, but should come with a loud and consistent warning that reminds us that we're only dealing with some of the available information. Mortal Kombat 11 is closing in on its first month in the wild, and already we've seen multiple tier lists emerge as players map out the very top of the iceberg.

These kinds of early opinions are both expected and welcomed, but Maximilian has been around the FGC for a good while now and has some words of wisdom to share lest excited competitors decide too quickly that they've arrived at the gospel truth.

It's easy to simply make a statement like "Geras and Erron Black are the best." There are some clearly articulable reasons many people think this, and it's a fair assessment given the amount of the picture we can see here at the three week mark.

It's important to keep in mind that we have yet to see what's really there beneath the waves at more substantial depths. No matter what the picture is right now, it's relatively low resolution compared to what it will be as people figure continue to figure out MK11's meta along with its characters.

It's also important to remember that when people talk about a character's place on a tier list, they're often assuming certain conditions that usually involve the highest skilled players and longer sets.

The main point Max makes is that we should be taking any and all information with a grain of salt while simultaneously staying open to the scientific method should any new information become available. He says it with much more detail and explanation in the full video, however, which you can view here: NSFW for language
