Famitsu has reported that the Nintendo Switch's sales so far in Japan have exceeded the PlayStation 4's lifetime sales in the country. It seems that Nintendo's latest console continues to be a massive hit.

Notably, the Nintendo Switch was able to overtake Sony's console in just 114 weeks on the market. This is especially impressive considering that the PlayStation 4 was present in the market for 272 weeks.

In Japan, the Nintendo Switch has reportedly sold about 8,125,637 units. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 4's sales are around 8,077,756 units sold.

Of course, there's still a ways to go for the Nintendo Switch's sales to catch up to the PlayStation 4 in terms of their global sales. According to VG247, the PlayStation 4's global sales exceed 96.8 million right now.

The Nintendo Enthusiast last reported Nintendo Switch's global sales to be around 34.74 million back in April 2019. Could the Nintendo Switch overtake Sony's sales with enough time?

It's worth mentioning that the Nintendo Switch was already declared to be the fastest selling console in Japan during launch year. It looks like there's a plausible possibility of this happening.
