As we draw nearer to E3 time, video game fans around the globe grow increasingly anxious to see what their favorite companies and developers have in store for the near future and beyond.

Sony recently announced their departure from the E3 main stage, putting into play a new platform for them to make announcements, reveals, and provide fans with the latest details about their games. This platform is called the "State of Play" broadcast, and we'll be seeing a new installment on May 9.

On Thursday, May 9 at 3 p.m. PDT / 6 p.m. EDT, Sony will be airing their next State of Play live stream. According to PlayStation Blog, the broadcast will be fairly short (around 10 minutes) and will focus on PlayStation 4 updates.

The headliner here will be an in-depth look at the upcoming MediEvil remake, but Sony is also planning to give a first look at a new title during the stream. There will also be other announcements and details shared on stream.

Unfortunately, it was stated up front that we won't be seeing anything involving next-gen consoles or information this time around. With it being a 10-minute presentation, that's to be expected.

Still, these types of broadcasts are always worth keeping an eye on just in case something in our wheelhouse is revealed. Be sure to mark your calendars for May 9.

You'll be able to catch the State of Play broadcast on the PlayStation Twitch channel, as well as their YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
