While it's not quite April 1 in the Western Hemisphere, Japan is already getting into the spirit of pranking their fellow man as they do every year including some of the biggest video game developers in the business.

Capcom is no stranger to announcing / releasing gag games and products for April Fools' Day — especially their fighting game division — and this year is no exception considering they've released a fully playable game online very fittingly featuring Street Fighter 5's G taking on Shadaloo in classic arcade fashion.

2019: World President Challenges a STG (Shooting Game) is a vertical shoot 'em up game playable on PC and smartphones via the Shadaloo CRI website with multiple levels available and plenty of throwbacks to Street Fighter 2 like the world map and character portraits.

Loading up the application will actually begin with a short motion comic featuring a couple characters from the arcade culture-focused anime High Score Girl as they spot a new game that they then proclaim is "totally lame."

From there you'll be greeted by the game's start screen which includes a handy how-to-play section which also looks pulled straight out of the 90's.

In the game itself, players take on a number on Shadaloo's goons throughout the levels like Las Vegas, Flamenco Tavern and Thailand including the standard grunts, world warriors like Balrog and a cybernetic version of Sagat's tiger.

G's gameplay revolves around moving left and right across the screen shooting his G Burst from his finger tip which of course can be powered up with things like Wide Shot, G Barrier and a Mega Crush.

Defeat enemies and earn high scores before making it to the end of levels to face off against the giant boss forms of Balrog, Vega, Sagat and M. Bison who each have special variations of their actual fighting game moves like rapid-fire Tiger Shots.

It's a fairly simple game that's filled with references to Street Fighter 2, so we highly recommend you check it out for yourself on Capcom's website to get more G action into your life even if it is technically a joke.
