Maybe the most brutal fighter yet

We got an all new Kombat Kast today and Mortal Kombat 11 developers showed off none other than reigning emperor of Outworld, Kotal Kahn.

Steve "16bit" Brownback showcased the character as he highlighted and discussed an array of different techniques while articulating Kahn's general play style and approach. Pretty similar to his game plan in MKX, Kahn is a grappler as well as a brawler, and feels like a boss character with his exceptionally powerful normals and massive stature. Continue on for more.

Kotal Kahn seems to be best at the mid range as his long limbs grant him pretty stellar reach. While he's not all that fast, he certainly hits very hard and seems to need fewer successful openings than most others on the MK11 roster thus far.

On paper this character is very scary as he has a wide array of tools that help him mostly on the offensive. He also boasts a counter technique for opponents that get a little overzealous, but he appears to be at his best from mid range and up close.

One thing is clear off the bat, this is one of the most brutal fighters we've seen as many of his attacks leave us feeling even more queasy than normal (which is really saying something with MK11).

We'll start things off with Mr. Kahn's Fatality wherein he summons an ancient stone totem that he uses to kill his opponent. As per the usual in Mortal Kombat 11, the victim is probably dead before the final blow even takes place, but it's really all about sending that message to the player you're up against:

The very first game play the team showed off saw Kahn's abilities using his normal attacks from the mid range. His size means long limbs reaching out fairly far, and he's able to convert into some great damage with just a few touches:

Depending on what customizations you choose, Kotal Kahn has access to four different totems. When he places these, he gets special buffs relating to damage, stamina, health, and one other trait the team did not address. He can stack up to three totems at once, mixing and matching them for varying effects:

Another of Steve's custom variations gave Kahn the ability to turn into a jungle cat during leaping attacks. He can simply hit, pounce and chomp, and even has a jumping roll attack. We also see a sun reflector move here for anti-airs and combo ends:

In the final custom variation we get to see Kotal's command grab wherein he stabs his foe, lifts them over his head, drinks blood from the wound, and then gains a damage buff for a short period thereafter:
