Shrek actually made his way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate via a new swamptastic mod

Modding culture in video games has breathed new life into older titles and even created brand new games that have gone on to be their own massive hit like Counter Strike, but most of the mods we see here in the fighting game community are primarily different costumes or character skins to freshen things up.

Shrek has long been one of the biggest "meme" characters associated with Super Smash Bros. alongside other fighters like Dragon Ball's Goku and Waluigi, but modding actually opens up the possibility put them in the titles whether they belong or not.

After previously being modded into Smash for Wii U, the master of the swamp has now made the jump to new hardware as a character skin for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate thanks to a modder in the community going by the name of Hefty.

Ultimate Shrek popped up in a video showing him in action by BeardBear which shows him inhabiting the form of Ganondorf and copying all of his moves. While he may be similar in size and stature to Ganon, I think he'd look much more fitting as Wario, King Dedede or K. Rool — as fitting as Shrek can be in Smash I guess.

The skin itself is actually fairly well detailed, but he still retains all of the voice clips, animations and visual effects of Ganondorf — so don't go in expecting Shrek to be expositing about his swamp or Donkey just yet anyways.

Most mods nowadays seem to be focused on adding more serious and personal marks on games, but it's nice to see some goofier takes like this and Shaggy making it into Jump Force from time to time to remind us to not always take games so seriously.
