Rumor: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to possibly receive Home-Run Contest and Stage Builder in a future update

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won a lot of fans over by including every character that ever appeared in the series into one game along with almost all of the stages though there were some other classic modes that were unfortunately left behind.

Two of said modes left out at launch, however, may still find life in Ultimate in an upcoming update in the form of Home-Run Contest and Stage Builder if recent data-mining discoveries are to be believed.

Buried within the game's files, players can reportedly find referential links to the two modes in Smash Ultimate's How to Play guides according to data-miners Dr. Hyper Cake and LuigiBlood though they are listed differently than other modes.

Home-Run Contest first appeared in 2001 with Melee and has been in every main entry until Ultimate. It doesn't add much competitively to a game that has a more traditional Training Mode, but whacking around the sandbag a fun mode that many likely have nostalgia for like Target Test.

Stage Builder was added in Brawl and is personally a mode that I had a good amount of fun with back in the day, but it was also largely looked over by the time the series came to Wii U.

Source Gaming recently put together a video on the subject and the evidence supporting the modes joining Ultimate's roster which you can see after the jump. They believe that we could see them come as soon as the 3.0 Spring update alongside Persona 5's Joker, but this is all still speculation and rumors — so take it with a grain of salt.
