Chrom is Roy's Echo Fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate but properties on their forward tilts and jabs are vastly different thanks to animations

Roy's forward smash hitbox is also a littler 'meatier' when compared to Chrom's thanks to the interpolation property

As everyone should already know by now, Chrom is Roy's Echo Fighter — a "clone" that reuses a lot of animations in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, the differences between Roy and Chrom are probably greater than the differences between Peach, Samus, Pit, Marth, and Simon and their respective Echo Fighters (Ryu and Ken are a completely different story).

For one, Chrom's up special probably works more like Ike's Aether — except without throwing it — rather than Roy's Blazer. This makes it so that Roy has a safer time going off stage when compared to Chrom.

However, those with a keen eye might notice that Roy tends to use a reverse hand grip for various attacks. This is not a trait that Chrom shares with Roy.

In fact, this causes Roy to bend his elbow more than Chrom when striking with his jab and forward tilt. As you can imagine, this causes quite a difference in how the hitboxes function.

Since Chrom's grip on his sword is unique compared to the combatant he is echoing, he actually has just a little more reach than Roy. Of course, this isn't a huge detriment to Roy since his attacks are strongest towards the hilt of his blade anyhow.

Also, Roy's forward smash apparently uses a "pseudo interpolated hitbox" while Chrom's version does not. According to the Blade Breakers, this makes the "hitbox during one frame and the hitbox of the previous frame active. Furthermore, the two hitboxes are connected in a straight line."
