Street Fighter 5 saw its Arcade Edition update go live in January 2018, but despite its name did not see an actual arcade release. The game that fits that bill, Street Fighter 5 Type Arcade, is set to launch in Japan on March 14th.

Type Arcade is the official arcade port of Street Fighter 5. While the game is set to be mostly the same as the home version, it does come equipped with a few differences.

Slight changes to the user interface can be spotted by those who check out Type Arcade — most notably, rankings, player names, titles and BP are all found above the health bar as opposed to below.

The key difference between the two versions, though, is the implementation of Battle Points and Player Points in Type Arcade. Street Fighter 5's console version utilizes a single League Points system, but the arcade port likely moves back to two separate rankings due to functionality that allows player progress to be tracked via Nesica cards.

Street Fighter 5 Type Arcade will also feature USB ports for those who would like to bring their own fightsticks or controllers with them to use. According to the game's official website, the controllers allowed for Type Arcade are the Razer Panthera, those from the HORI Real Arcade Pro series, and the Mad Catz Street Fighter 5 Fightpad Pro.

New artwork from legendary artist in the fighting game realm, Shinkiro, was released to commemorate Type Arcade's launch. It features the Street Fighter 5 Season 3 characters, as well as Ryu and Season 4 newcomer Kage.

You can head over to the official Street Fighter 5 Type Arcade website for more information on the game, as well as locations where you'll be able to find it. A trailer for the game can be found below.
