The Excellent Adventures of Gootecks and Mike Ross — the internet fighting game video series — is coming to an end, Gootecks announced this morning.

Those on the emailing list of the Excellent Adventures website received a lengthy email today from Ryan "Gootecks" Gutierrez, Co-Founder of Cross Counter, about the current state of the show and its closure.

"After eight years since Mike and I first put out the first episodes on YouTube, it’s time for Excellent Adventures to come to an end," Gootecks wrote in the email. "There are two remaining episodes that need to be released (I guess technically three total since one needs to be redone). These will be added to the site as they are ready, starting this week. Later on they will go to YouTube."

Making its debut with the Street Fighter 4 series, Excellent Adventures has seen a variety of different games featured on the program including Street Fighter X Tekken, the Marvel vs. Capcom series, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mortal Kombat X, and Street Fighter 5.

Gootecks cites several reasons for ending Excellent Adventures, with the main contributors being the departures of fellow show-runners Mike Ross and producers Steve Hwang and Ian Cofino. He notes that there are no hard feelings toward anyone, and thanks them all for everything.

Though this might be the end of the series, it is not the end of Gootecks or Cross Counter's work. Among the projects Gutierrez will be working on now that more of his time is freed up are discussion-style podcasts that are to be streamed on Twitch.

Gootecks is also working on a show called "The Content Collective" on which he will speak with various guest about the intricacies of content creation.

We're saddened to see one of the fighting game community's beloved series go, but look forward to the work Gootecks and Cross Counter will produce in the future.
