There's an Easter egg in Mortal Kombat 11 that's pulled right out of Toy Story

And no, it's not 'Buzz Saw Lightyear'

NetherRealm Studios' attention to detail in their fighting games reaches to infinity and... they have a great attention to detail. If you're not looking closely at the right things, a killer Easter egg or reference just might slip past you.

One such hidden gem exists in Mortal Kombat 11 with recently revealed character Johnny Cage and one of his win poses. As you've probably seen from his official trailer, when Johnny Cage nets a traditional win (no Fatality), he'll pull out an action figure of himself and playfully make it punch a few times before it performs his signature splits.

Twitter user David Cage spotted something that we definitely missed the first time around. If you look at the bottom of the action figure's shoe, you'll see the name "Cassie" written on it with crayon or marker.

Obviously, Cassie is the name of Johnny's daughter, and the tag on the figure's foot is meant to signify it belongs to her. What immediately comes to mind is Disney's Toy Story as Woody has a similar marking on his boot from his owner Andy.

Both names are written in a similar style — like a child wrote them — and though kids writing their names on things to claim ownership is commonplace, I'm hard-pressed to think this wasn't a direct reference to Toy Story here given the series' inspirations from pop culture and the significance of the name writing in the film.

If you watch the trailer again, you actually won't spot the "Cassie" as it is not featured there. You can, however, see it here in gameplay footage from the most recent Kombat Kast. Very sneaky, NetherRealm...
