Update: Capcom has released an official trailer for Capcom Cup 2019 along with the announcement that the champions of the United States and Japanese Street Fighter Leagues will face off at the event to see which team is the best in the world. You can see the trailer and new info after the jump.

The Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition event at the CEO 2019 tournament has now come to its conclusion. As this was a premier event, the first place winner walked away with an additional 700 points.

At the conclusion of the event, some details about Capcom Cup 2019 were revealed. It's official: this prestigious event will be taking place during the time frame of December 13-15.

Near the end of every year, Capcom hosts the Capcom Cup which concludes the Capcom Pro Tour season for that year. The very best Street Fighter 5 players of the year will compete during this event.

In 2019, one player will qualify based on winning Capcom Cup 2018, 26 will qualify based on the global leaderboard for the Capcom Pro Tour, four others will qualify from victories at each area's regional finals if they haven't already qualified via the leaderboard, and one last player will participate as the last chance qualifier just before the Capcom Cup begins.

Thus far, only the winner of the Capcom Cup 2018 tournament is confirmed. That confirmed competitor is RB|Gachikun. Him competing at Capcom Pro Tour events this year only improves his seeding.

Having said that, it's looking extremely likely that PG|Punk will have a guaranteed entry as he is the current leader in global CPT points. In fact, he has nearly double the number of points as the player in second place currently, Rohto|Tokido.

Notably though, there are still a number of Capcom Pro Tour events that need to be concluded before we know the full roster of the Capcom Cup competitors. For example, EVO 2019, the Asia Premier, and the North American Regional Finals 2019 are super premiers that still need to take place which award 1,000 CPT points for first place.

The NA Regional Finals are scheduled to take place on November 16 and 17 at the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada where Capcom will hold an open tournament to grasp some of the final points of the season as well as the qualifying spot for North America with entrants decided by the top points in the land.

Not only will the Capcom Cup 2019 event take place from December 13th to the 15th, but the Street Fighter League team event will also conclude during this time frame. It's been confirmed that these events will take place in Los Angeles, California.
