We're a mere two days from the start of what looks to be a massive fighting game event in CEO 2019, but it seems Capcom's Yoshinori Ono and his trusty Blanka doll won't be in attendance, according to a recent tweet.

Street Fighter 5's executive producer dropped a message highlighting both how excited he is to watch the action this weekend as well as how busy he and the SF5 team are as they prepare for a big reveal in August.

"I and team very busy getting ready for Aug. Lots of hard work for should make #SFV fans happy. I look forward to watch awesome matches and let’s good luck to everyone at #CEO2019 @CEOJebailey this weekend! #CPT2019 #SFVLeague #SFL2019." he tweeted.

The Street Fighter community has been waiting for both news of and the release of new DLC characters, and while Capcom hasn't said anything official on this front, Ono has tweeted multiple times that something big is coming in August.

Fans of SF5 have expressed distaste at the general lack of communication in recent months, and a reveal that meets expectations and makes fans happy would be an immense success for Capcom. Though he hasn't stated it outright, best guesses place Ono's August reveal at EVO 2019, which will play out from August 2-4 in Las Vegas.

While the last few EVOs have held character reveals for SF5, we may see a bit more this time around. We polled EventHubs readers to get some insight for general expectations, and the number one response revealed that people are thinking a balance update (followed by new mechanics) is most likely.

We've recently been entertaining the idea that a major update, such as a Super Street Fighter 5, might be on the table, though we won't know for sure until the eighth month actually rolls around. You can view Ono's tweet by clicking the thumbnail below.
