Broly is back. There has been an announcement for a Dragon Ball Super Broly 2.

You can expect for this film to be canonical like the last one. That means that it impacts games as well as the Dragon Ball Super universe.

How does it affect us as gamers (aside from being fans of Dragon Ball franchise)? Canon Broly and Gogeta are DLC in Dragon Ball FighterZ — along with Jiren, Videl, Kid Goku, and an unannounced sixth combatant.

Yes, Broly was an awesome movie, so a sequel is very exciting. But this means more possible DLC, or maybe the next iteration of Dragon Ball FighterZ will include characters featured in the new movie. In fact, this is seems very likely.

The first film was such a success we can expect to see them move quickly to take advantage of the success it garnered.

Toei Animation’s Akiyo Iyokuit confirmed via interview that the next Dragon Ball movie will go in a complete different path to Dragon Ball Super: Broly. This is consistent when it comes to each film sort of being independent with storylines only pertaining to that particular film.

Basically, don’t expect something that directly relates the film to its prequel.

We can expect this film to hit theaters at earliest, in the second half of 2020, or more likely in early 2021.
