Speaking at the end of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019, Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that they would be revealing a new character during their Direct broadcast on Tuesday at 9 a.m. PDT / 12 p.m. EDT.

"As for me, I'll be continuing my work on the next DLC fighter, and more information regarding that will be shared in the Nintendo Direct for E3 2019," said Sakurai.

"I think many of you are going to want to tune in, next week, to see what or who [Sakurai] may be talking about," said Nintendo of America president, Doug Bowser.

It's interesting that Bowser used a word choice of "what or who" which may mean the playable ... thing(s) revealed don't fit the typical expectation. "What or who," was said with a knowing smile, and seemed like part of the planned announcement — and not a slip of the tongue.

There are rumors bouncing around the internet right now, about who we might see as DLC in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the future, with one of the most prominent rumors being Banjo Kazooie.

Bowser also recommended tuning into Treehouse Live during E3 2019 where they will have more news, developer presentations and some first time gameplay looks.

Nintendo also announced the Super Smash Bros. Online Open which will take place in June 2019. Four winners will receive travel, accommodations and registration to EVO 2019 in Las Vegas in August.
