Pichu, Pokémon Trainer, and Plautena displayed a dominant presence in the top 64 of Smash'N'Splash 5's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event

Mr. Game & Watch, Piranha Plant, Bowser, Zelda, Duck Hunt, and more managed to make it into the top 64

We're down to the top eight players of Smash'N'Splash 5. There were nearly 1,600 entrants registered to participate for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Although patch 3.1.0 was recently released, Smash'N'Splash 5 used version 3.0.1 during the tournament. Still, it's possible that the changes of this patch may have influenced players to spend time on other characters following this. Let's take a look at the characters used by the top 64 players here.

Interestingly enough, Snake was not the most used character this time. Instead, he ended up being tied for the ninth most used choice within the top 64.

Known Snake users Salem and dB|Yeti relied on their Shulk and Mega Man respectively throughout the event. Despite this, Ally managed to solo Snake into top eight.

With five players using the baby Pokémon, Pichu ended up being the most popular character this time. Interestingly enough, the Pokémon Trainer was the second most used option with four mains and one secondary.

CLG|VoiD and Mazer|Nakat were the only two that managed to get Pichu into the top eight portion of the bracket. This marks one of two times at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event where a fighter was found twice in the top eight (Joker is the other character).

After Pichu and Pokémon Trainer, Palutena was also one of the most commonly used fighters in the top 64. There were four players using the Goddess of Light.

Lucina, Olimar, and Mega Man followed behind those characters. Notably, Olimar and Lucina received a few nerfs in version 3.1.0 so they may see a reduced presence in future events.

There were also a few combatants that are rarely seen at major events that managed to make their way into the top eight. Mr. Game & Watch, Zelda, Piranha Plant, Duck Hunt, and the Villager are among these outliers.

Unfortunately for fans of the Wii Fit Trainer, Ganondorf, Cloud, the Belmonts, Street Fighter's Shotos, Sonic, and other notable fighters, no one managed to make it into the top 64 with them.
