Many people wonder how he got this good, or did he always want to be a pro gamer; now he tells his story

Rec|Punk is probably the most dominant player in this current season of the Capcom Pro Tour. He has a sizable lead in points going into Evo 2019.

Every player has an origin story, whether it is stereotypical or unique. Their respective journeys helped mold and make them into who they are.

Punk is a laid back, relaxed person. So when asked about how he even got into professional gaming, his response reflected his demeanor.

"It wasn't like I intended to. It just sort of happened," Punk laughed as he told us. "I started playing and I started winning."

Most players have some form of support in their careers, from a significant other, family, or both. "They support me, but it wasn't like they planned this out either," Punk reminisced. He capped the statement off with a grin and deep laugh.

The amount of pressure on players is at an all-time high. Teams want you to get results, maintain a strong social media presence, and stream plus create content.

So how does, Punk, a player with so much pressure on him, continue to win and maintain? Punk smiled. "There are fans and stuff like that, but I just play."

It sounds simple, and to Punk it really is. Focus on playing and the rest will fall into place. "I love to play so I do." Punk glanced up from his phone to remind me, "There's pressure, but I just play my game.

We want to thank Rec|Punk for taking the time to talk to us.
