There's plenty to get hype over when it comes to the wildly popular Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but few sequences drop jaws the way that sudden armor attack turnarounds do.

We've got a very exciting compilation of exactly such situations thanks to Dragon Smash as they've collected nearly six minutes worth of last-second, super armor surprises.

Certain moves in Smash Ultimate have armored properties, meaning that they actually absorb attacks and negate knockback (though they do still receive the damage) if a character is hit while performing them.

When a player is already at a high percentage and gets tagged with a huge blow, such as Samus' fully charged up B shot, onlookers fully expect that player's character to go flying across the screen to their demise. When the character that was supposed to die stays firmly in place, absorbs the entire impact, and then proceeds to turn the tables with a big hit of their own, it can be pretty damn exciting.

It's interesting that, as you watch and listen, players are routinely surprised by these effective instances of super armor. Some of them even go as far as to blatantly ask what happened, apparently having not seen this kind of thing play out before.

You can view the entire compilation below. We'll also mention that there's some NSFW language as onlookers in these clips often react with a good bit of emotion. Please be ready for some four-letter word shouting while you watch.
