New possible lead on Hero release date for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pops up from an unlikely source

Oh, thank heaven

Here in the West 7/11 convenience stores are traditionally not the kind of place you look to find Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news, but it's a whole other story when it comes to 7/11s in Japan.

Unlike their Western counterparts, Japanese stores offer a lot more than chips, soda, and gas. Video games and gaming paraphernalia are common sights at these shops in the East, and a current pop up advertisement has us considering a specific date for the release of DLC character Hero in Ultimate.

PushDustIn posted an image of the pop up display in question on their Twitter, noting that it states that "Hero will be released this Summer." So far, nothing new or special.

The display itself is slated to be up only until August 4th, however, which some fans are taking as a possible lead that the character will be released on that date, therefore no longer needing an ad to tell people to get ready.

For those following along at home, August 4th is the same day that Smash Ultimate will conclude at EVO 2019. It stands as the ninth and final game on the mega event's lineup and boasts nearly 3,500 entrants. This would be a perfect setting for the next big release as EVO has traditionally been a juncture wherein developers often drop big news.

Time will tell if this new lead comes to any sort of fruition, but you can check out the pop up in the meantime by clicking the thumbnail below. It came with the following text from PushDustIn. "7/11 in Japan has a pop up display for Fire Emblem and Hero. (it just says that Hero will be released in the summer). The pop up display is only until the 4th though."
