'Killer Instinct needs to be brought back for next generation consoles' - Maximilian has a serious plea for Microsoft
#BringBackKI
Microsoft's 2013 reboot of Killer Instinct was, in many ways, a massive success, but there are many who feel that while the title did well, it could have soared even higher. Given the majorly impressive work developers proved capable of, there's certainly an argument to be made that we should give the franchise yet another entry and see how it fares.
Maximilian has produced a video articulating some of the reasons why KI was such a great experience, and why it should come back with a new installment in the next generation of consoles.
The story of the 2013 KI reboot is one of fun, competitive rivalry, and community building at its finest, but is also somewhat unfortunate. For as much success as the game did see, many fans can't shake the notion that a few unfortunate happenings had a bit of a stifling effect on the impact that KI could have had.
Probably the biggest unexpected hurdle the game faced came from the fact that Capcom struck up a deal with Sony to make the then-upcoming Street Fighter 5 available only on the PlayStation 4 and PC, not the Xbox One.
Max offers a little bit of history on the most recent Killer Instinct title, noting the impressive, sometimes "against all odds" accomplishments devs were able to manage. He goes back even further to discuss similar happenings with previous KI games, ultimately showing just how strong of a fighting game series it has been.
