Samurai Shodown player puts down their own sword during top 8 at VSFighting to get the final hit with their fists which then blows up in their face

Don't get cheeky now

Samurai Shodown's disarm mechanic has quickly turned into one of the most interesting and controversial in the game allowing players to lock their opponents out of picking up their weapons though the game also allows them to drop their own blades on command as well.

A Charlotte player by the name of SWW|Rycroft was facing off against top Tekken player MVP|Pekos in the losers side of top 8 at VSFighting of Samurai Shodown when he hit the Haohmaru with a raw Super off of the weapon deflect for massive damage. With his opponent down to the smallest sliver of life, Rycroft put down his own rapier to finish things with their bare hands.

Obviously this would not work out for Charlotte well, as Pekos would block all of the disarmed kick attempts to finish him off to turn things around spectacularly with the volatility that Samurai Shodown is famous for.

Landing multiple throws and uppercuts to destroy Rycroft's life lead had the commentators absolutely popping off for taking the loss after being "cheeky" in the top 8 of a major.

Both players were laughing after the conclusion of the match before fist bumping, but that was only game one of their set. Pekos would go on to take the set 2-0 and finish the tournament in second place in a close grand finals with GGP|Kazunoko.

Rycroft would end up finishing in fifth place overall though the comeback against him will likely go down as one of the best highlights of the tournament and should serve as a lesson to never forget that you're not out of a match... especially in something like Samurai Shodown where singular moves can do over half health.
