Samurai Shodown sat in fourth place overall out of the nine mainstage EVO 2019 titles as far as entrants go at the start of July which means that the title already has more than 1,000 competitors lined up to take a crack at the newest major title on the scene.

SNK announced today that it is teaming up with SamSho's North American publisher, Athlon Games, to provide a $30,000 pot bonus to the EVO 2019 prize pool as the game became the company's most entered title ever in the long-running event's history.

They did not specify how that money will be split up among finalists, however, though the top three finalists of the grand tournament will also receive some bonus swag with some extra Samurai Shodown gear.

Those who make it to at least winners / losers final will also nab a limited edition Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Mini console, an awesome looking Haohmaru / Samurai Spirits jacket and an original Nakoruru sketch signed by SNK illustrator Yumi Saji.

EVO 2019 is set to take place August 2–4 in Las Vegas, Nevada though the registration deadline is fast approaching as the last day to sign up for the biggest fighting game event of the year will be Sunday, July 14.

Samurai Shodown is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with Nintendo Switch, PC, arcade and Google Stadia versions also currently in development with release dates slated for later in 2019. You can check out the exclusive EVO finalist prizes for the game below.
