Two commemorative DLCs were in the works though they may no longer be coming

Steam Database updates have generally given us a fairly accurate idea of when new DLC was on the way for games like Tekken 7 and Dragon Ball FighterZ though its latest change may not be the case according to the head honcho of Tekken himself.

Katsuhiro Harada, the longtime director and producer of the Tekken series, responded to our report from the past weekend that new DLC may be coming soon by stating that there were plans for 'commemorative' content though nothing on the front for characters.

"This is a problem with our announcement, but in fact we had achieved some sales records in March of 2019," said Harada in his initial response on Twitter. "So, I was planning 2 of the commemorative DLCs. However, We [are] reviewing all plans now, the registration may also disappear. So, [please] don't jump the gun."

Harada then went on to say that the commemorative DLC would have included things like additional music and a live desktop theme among other things, but those initial plans are currently being reconsidered over at Bandai Namco meaning they may never see release.

We had reported this past weekend that the Stead Database page for Tekken 7 had been updated at the end of June with three additional entries for unnamed DLC as had been done previously before Tekken 7 and Dragon Ball FighterZ Season 2 content which pointed to another potential EVO reveal for 2019 — though that may not be in the cards after all.

When a fan replied that they'd pay $50 to have Wang back in the game, Harada tweeted that "there is no plans for characters" and that the "registration may also disappear" at some point.

Tekken 7's last content update came back in May to celebrate the game's second anniversary on consoles while Julia and Negan were the last characters to be released for Season 2 before that alongside Anna, Lei, Marduk and Armor King.

What seemed to be an almost sure thing has now gotten much more hazy, so only time will tell now if there will be any future content updates coming to one of the biggest titles in the fighting game community right now. The statements could also be Harada once again trying to hide surprises by denying things are coming, but I guess we'll just need to wait and see.
