With CEO 2019 all wrapped up now, competitive fighting game players might think it's time to take a breather. That's definitely not the case as the largest event of the year, EVO, is right around the corner.

EVO 2019 tournament organizer Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar has been sharing updates on Twitter over the last several months to let fans know how the event's main games are doing, registration-wise. Earlier today, Wizard dropped the Evo 2019 registration scoreboard for July.

The latest rankings show that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to sit at the top with the most entrants for EVO 2019. We recently learned that Smash Ultimate is the only game at this year's EVO currently to have over 2,000 registered competitors.

While Smash sits at #1, Tekken 7 and Street Fighter 5 have been doing battle for that highly coveted #2 spot on the leaderboard. In early June, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition held the position, but later in the month Mr. Wizard took to Twitter to tell fans that both games had the exact same number of entrants.

Now it looks like Tekken 7 has moved above Street Fighter 5. We see Tekken 7 in the second slot and Street Fighter 5 in the third, with no indication from Mr. Wizard that the two titles remain tied.

Samurai Shodown also continues to do well as SNK's weapons-based fighter has moved up to having the fourth most entrants at EVO 2019. Last week, Wizard noted that Samurai Shodown is nearing the King of Fighters series' all-time record for entrants at an EVO event, which is likely referring to King of Fighters 13's 1,072 entrants at EVO 2012.

EVO 2019 is taking place on August 2 - 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada. You can check out the July registration leaderboard below.
