Mortal Kombat's story is better told than most every other fighting game franchise; get ready for MK 11 with this full recap in just seven minutes

Sindel's story is way more intense than we thought

It was back in 2011 that the Mortal Kombat series was revamped and featured a cinematic story mode that instantly set the standard for fighting games, but the gory franchise has actually been doing a pretty stellar job of telling its tale since its beginnings back in the 1990's.

IGN takes us back on a very quick, seven minute trip through the Kombat history books to give us a recap on all the happenings since MK1 as we prepare for Mortal Kombat 11.

Things start with a fairly straightforward plot as the bad guys of Outworld plan to assimilate other realms around them by beating them in 100 years worth of tournaments.

Liu Kang and the gang repeatedly foil said plans, so Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn and Shinnok start breaking the rules in attempts to back door Earthrealm and take over that way.

The events are actually pretty intriguing as characters go through some darcs. The story of Sindel is quite intense as she serves as a key for Kahn to invade Earthrealm after his successful invasion of Edenia. She commits suicide in order to stop Outworld's emperor, but winds up being resurrected and brainwashed for her troubles.

It's well worth the watch as IGN informs and reminds us of all that's gone on leading up to MK11. We know very little about the newest entry, but are aware that it deals with time travel... which might make things extremely murky going forward.
