Mortal Kombat 11 was only revealed back in December during the Video Game Awards ceremony. Considering that the game will be released on April 23, 2019, there is only a small window of time where information about the title can be teased and revealed.

For tomorrow, we're expecting quite the information dump for the big "reveal event." NetherRealm Studios has been hyping up this event and inviting many to show up.

Our very own Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez will be in attendance to collect as much information about the upcoming game as possible. Mortal Kombat fans will surely have something to look forward to.

What exactly could we be in store for tomorrow? The official Mortal Kombat Twitter page has given us a few ideas of what we should expect.

Not surprisingly, we'll be getting our first look at the gameplay. This will also be a great opportunity to see how the game's story mode will unfold.

It was also said that we will "maybe" be getting some character reveals. Here's hoping this isn't an "announcement of an announcement" scenario.

What to expect for the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event?

Characters — Veterans and Newcomers

So far, the only characters that we know about are Dark Raiden, Scorpion, and Shao Kahn. It's worth noting that Shao Kahn is the game's pre-order bonus fighter.

We also saw a mysterious figure that appeared to be female standing next to what is likely an hourglass. As of this moment, very little is actually known about this individual.

If rumors are to be taken at face value, then Ronda Rousey could be the voice actress behind Sonya Blade.

Notably, there were a number of combatants that were playable in Mortal Kombat 9 that did not return for Mortal Kombat X. Examples include, Nightwolf, Baraka, Sheeva, Kabal, Stryker, Rain, Jade, Shang Tsung, and more.

In other words, it's been roughly eight years since we've been able to play as some of these fan favorites. Of course for some characters like Chameleon, Frost, Fujin, Li Mei, Reiko, Shujinko, and many others, it's been even longer than that.

We're not even sure which fighters will be returning from Mortal Kombat X. There was a very noticeable emphasis on the new cast like Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Erron Black, Jacqui Briggs, and Kung Jin for Mortal Kombat X.

Of course, we'll likely be getting some additional newcomers to really flesh out the roster. Also, who will be this game's guest character? Could we finally be getting Spawn?

Gameplay Showcasing Mechanics

The trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 showcased a brutal battle that took place between Scorpion and Raiden. Unfortunately, this didn't actually show us any real gameplay.

We're aware of there being a "custom character variation" system. This sounds very similar to Mortal Kombat X's variation system and Injustice 2's gear options.

Will this be viable for tournament play or is this a mechanic that is simply there for the casual audience? This will likely depend on how much time it will take to set up at major events.

Notably, we saw Raiden and Scorpion make usage of various weapons. There's a possibility that every character will have a unique weapon they can pull out during fights — just like Mortal Kombat 4.

Traditionally, the Mortal Kombat series has been known for its "dial-a-combo" system where inputs are saved during attack strings. Will this return or is the NetherRealm team looking to mix things up?

Finally, it wouldn't be Mortal Kombat without fatalities. Considering that Mortal Kombat 9 had "babalities" and Mortal Kombat X had brutalities, what is Mortal Kombat 11 going to bring to the table? Friendship?

Tomorrow, we'll surely have the opportunity to see some gameplay for this new title for the first time.

Story Details

Mortal Kombat's story has always been an important element of the series, especially since Mortal Kombat 9. Even NetherRealm's Injustice series has placed great emphasis on the single player campaign.

There's no reason not to believe that Mortal Kombat 11 won't place the same effort into its story mode. More than likely, that mysterious female figure and Dark Raiden will play important roles during the game's main events.

One of the phrases used to describe the story is "time bending." This is probably hinting at that mysterious female figure as she stood next to what appeared to be an hourglass with sand inside.

Notably, Mortal Kombat 9's story focused the plot on changing the future of the Mortal Kombat timeline. More specifically, Raiden had received a message from his future self that instructed him to prevent Armageddon's final outcome that had Shao Kahn reign victorious.

We'll just have to see what this ultimately means in Mortal Kombat 11's story campaign.

As fans of the Mortal Kombat series, many of us are pretty stoked to see tomorrow's events unfold. You can be sure that we'll be reporting on any news that comes about during the reveal event.
