Dead or Alive 6: Core Fighters appears on Microsoft Store potentially pointing to free-to-play version of the game

Dead or Alive 6 was originally slated for a February 15 release, but was recently delayed to the start of March so the developers can further polish and balance the upcoming fighter — though we may still have quite a bit to learn about the title's release if a recently discovered listing is accurate.

The Microsoft Store currently lists a 'Core Fighters' version of Dead or Alive 6 on Xbox One which may point to a free-to-play release similar to its predecessor though the page itself contains little information as to what it would include.

When Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate launched a year after the title's initial release, it came alongside a 'Core Fighters' version that allowed users to play the game for free including four characters — Kasumi, Ayane, Ryu Hayabusa and Hayate — and a majority of the features aside from story mode.

This Dead or Alive 6: Core Fighters listing has not been updated to the new release date of March 1, and the screenshots on the page are broken meaning that it could have been published early or as a placeholder since it also doesn't mention what this specific version comes with — outside of it being included with the base game and deluxe edition.

The PlayStation and Steam storefronts do not currently contain any information regarding this Core Fighters release, and the Microsoft page says that it cannot be sold separately from the main game.

Team Ninja has not announced any plans for a free-to-play version of Dead or Alive 6, but we've reached out to Koei Tecmo for more information regarding the Core Fighters listing. We'll update the story with any new details we receive, but until then we can still take a look at the peculiar listing below.
