One week from now we'll be learning more about what the future holds for Mortal Kombat 11 outside of what we've seen from the initial reveal last month plus the images and information that has surfaced since.

Earlier this week, NetherRealm Studios released the full character artwork for the series antagonist, Shao Kahn, who will be available to players who pre-order the game, and now the developers have done the same for Raiden.

The official Mortal Kombat Twitter page recently posted the render for Raiden who appears as though he may be a villain or more twisted hero this time around with the caption "'There are fates worse than death!' Pre-order #MK11 and get access to the Beta!"

That caption references one of Raiden's lines from the end of the Mortal Kombat X story where he presents the decapitated head of Shinnok while threatening to destroy anyone who would threaten Earthrealm instead of simply defending it.

His golden costume from said story ending shares similarities to Raiden's MK11 design though he appears more armored with metal now plus we get a better look at his new staff weapon that could briefly be seen in the announcement trailer.

January 17 will bring with it the first gameplay showcase for Mortal Kombat 11 along with more character reveals, but until then we can take a look at how Raiden will look in the game in the gallery below compared to the ending of MKX.
