Recent entries in the Super Smash Bros. series have struggled to pull in and keep the Melee crowd to stick around the competitive scene, but it appears that Ultimate currently has the attention of the old guard more than the games that came before.

TSM|Leffen finally won his first EVO in Melee last year, and he's since gone on to spend much of his time in the past month diving into dissecting Smash Ultimate at a competitive level and picking up Pokémon Trainer as his main while putting out tons of content for the game on YouTube and Twitch.

Valhalla II proved to be the first major tournament where Europe's best Smash players like Leffen, orKsGP|Glutonny, Cyve, Meru and more could come together and show off their month one tech and early potential for Ultimate.

Although he did not make it to the finals, Leffen and his opponents provided some of the most exciting and intense Smash Ultimate sets yet with his matches against Glutonny and Meru especially standing out where both would come down to last game, last stock scenarios.

The number one seeded Glutonny and Leffen would meet to decide which of them would advance to top 8 on the winners' side where the Melee champ would quickly go up 2-0, but Wario's Wafts would not be stuffed for long.

You can check out Gluttony and Leffen's full match in the stream archives here, but we're going to be going over the highlights from that set and the top 8 set against Meru where we'll start off with Daisy being able to pull out the rare Mr. Saturn and instantly break Leffen's shield in an amazing turn in RNG.

Leffen had a fast and strong start to his set against Glutonny and was able to quickly go up 2-0 using all three of his Pokémon.

In game 2, Leffen and Glutonny quickly exchange stock where the Wario player manages to KO with and up-tilt into the stinky Waft.

After quickly going up 2-0 and looking strong at the start in game three, Leffen isn't able to stave off Wario's comeback.

Glutonny makes yet another comeback in game four where he's able to stuff Leffen's recovery again and again and again.

Meru actually took game one against Leffen, but Ivysaur's huge range would help keep Peach at bay in game two.

Daisy was able to finish off Ivysaur after his attempt to make it back to the stage allowing Meru to advance while Leffen's tournament would end with a seventh place finish.
