Another Mortal Kombat 11 character is being revealed next week during the next Kombat Kast and it's a 'her'

There's a good chance it's Kitana

NetherRealm Studios' first Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Kast brought with it a ton of information and new gameplay for fans to check out this week.

The main event came in the form of an official reveal of Kabal. Not only did we witness his gameplay trailer for the first time, but the crew went ahead and took the returning fighter into kombat and provided a detailed breakdown of what he can do this time around.

As if that wasn't enough to satiate fan hunger for more Mortal Kombat 11 news, D'Vorah was also announced as a playable character by way of an interview with Inside Xbox shortly after the Kombat Kast concluded. Unfortunately, only official artwork was shown for D'Vorah, so we'll have to wait a bit for actual gameplay.

But on top of everything, NetherRealm Studios Community Manager Tyler Lansdown announced during the Kombat Kast today that yet another fighter is set to be revealed next week. During the Q&A portion of the stream, Lansdown answered a question asking when the next Kombat Kast would be taking place.

"Next Thursday, 3 p.m. Central, we'll be right back here again," Lansdown started. "And even though I said earlier [that] we're not always going to reveal a new character [during the Kombat Kast], I feel like we're going to reveal a new character."

Lansdown followed up by outright saying that there will be another character reveal next week, then directed the question to Steve "16-Bit" Brownback — NetherRealm's Senior QA Analyst — asking how he feels about this next character. "I cannot wait until we reveal her," Brownback said.

For emphasis, the crew said again that this next character to be revealed for Mortal Kombat 11 will be a female fighter. Based on what we know so far, there's a good chance it's Kitana.

Our first clue can be found in the fact that Tyler Lansdown asked Steve directly how he feels about next week's reveal.

Back before joining the NetherRealm crew, 16-Bit was a top-level, competitive player — with a lot of success in Mortal Kombat 9. His main character of choice was fan-wielding warrior, Kitana, and it is no secret that Brownback is a big fan of her (no pun intended).

Couple that with the fact that he specifically noted the character is female, and you have the makings of a solid theory!

Taking it a little bit further, Brownback also currently has Kitana as the image in his Twitter banner. While this could have been the case before today's Kombat Kast (we didn't get the chance to look), this can certainly be seen as another element that thickens the plot.

Kitana's case is made even more compelling when you stop and remember that we have already seen her (in her revenant form) in a Mortal Kombat 11 cut scene that was shared during the reveal event last month. Though one might argue that this was only a story mode clip and she might not be playable, it's worth pointing out that Kitana is directly referenced in what appears to be a pre-fight intro from Cassie Cage — who is also not yet officially confirmed as playable.

The classic fighter can also be seen very clearly on one of the in-game icons for Mortal Kombat 11's "Kustomize" mode.

Earlier today, NetherRealm Studios Creative Director, Ed Boon, took to Twitter to clarify that the character 16-Bit referenced today during the Kombat Kast is not D'Vorah. So, this means we're seeing a different female fighter revealed next week.
