Kakusuma results featuring Momochi, Kazunoko, Go1, Haitani, MOV and Eita

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate surpassed Street Fighter 2 as the best-selling fighting game of all time earlier this year, and more recently, quite a few of Japan's best traditional fighting game players have been putting in time to learn the one-year-old game.

Victrix|Momochi has been streaming Smash Ultimate for quite some time now, and to close out 2019, the former Capcom Cup champion hosted a special invitational tournament with his friends / rivals including CO|Go1, FD|Haitani, MOV, Eita and BC|Kazunoko.

This wasn't exactly the most standard of events considering they first held a round robin bracket to determine placements for the final tournament though every set during the day was only a best of one situation — probably to cut down on time.

While I don't expect any of these to make a top 8 in a Smash Ultimate major any time soon, it is still impressive to see all of them pick up this very different game at a fairly proficient level to the point where Momochi, Kazunoko and Go1 looked especially good.

The story of the day goes to Eita, however, considering he went 1-4 in the initial round robin event which put him in last place. He and his Joker then had to run the gambit of fighting everyone else in this non-standard tournament to finally make his way up to Momochi in the finals — taking down everyone who beat him before.

Kakusuma was streamed over on Momochi's Twitch channel with Kishiru and Abadango on commentary, and we suggest checking out the archive if you have the time. You can find the full results below.
