Teppen may not be an actual fighting game, but it's sure made an impact on the fighting game community to the point where Justin Wong was actually brought out to Japan to commentate the World Championships this weekend.

Following the finals of the Teppen World Championship today, Gung-Ho and Capcom announced that Akuma will be the next playable character to join the mobile game alongside the new expansion called 'The Force Seekers.'

On top of that, Ryu will gain a new character skin to transform him into Evil Ryu while Oni was also shown to be part of the trailer — perhaps as one of Akuma's super moves.

The Force Seekers expansion will of course be adding new cards to the roster along with a new mechanic called Ascended which will allow players to destroy their own units to buff the new card laid on top of it.

Akuma is set to join the cast in January 2020 taking his place alongside Ryu, Chun-Li and Morrigan as playable fighting game characters on the roster. He'll also be the third post-launch deck master to release following Resident Evil's Jill Valentine and Devil May Cry's Nero.

The raging demon's attribute is the color black like Wesker, so he'll probably be about blowing up his own cards or damaging his own health to make even stronger fighters or instantly wipe out the opponent's best defenses.

Teppen is a free to play mobile card game from Gung Ho and Capcom featuring characters from the Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Mega Man and Devil May Cry series though it's apparently been confirmed that the developers are free to use any Capcom property they like for new cards. If you haven't tried out the game and you're a fan of Capcom titles, we think you may enjoy the active gameplay style and classic characters given new life in sweet artwork.
