Capcom has just released the latest Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition character introduction video. The Street Fighter 3 Third Strike boss character, Gill, makes his grand return as a playable character in Street Fighter 5, and this showcase provides a bevy of information about the elemental leader of the Illuminati.

Capcom UK Community Manager, Matt Edwards, gives viewers the rundown on what Gill is all about in this iteration of Street Fighter. If you're wondering whether or not Gill is the right character for you, be sure to click on through to the introduction video.

Much like he did in previous games, Gill utilizes both fire and ice in combat. His normals and special moves are mapped to either element, and he can activate his Retribution mechanic by hitting opposing elements for certain attacks which will open up even more possibilities for damage, combos, and set ups.

One of the main components of Gill's playstyle comes in his ability to create strong mix up and set up situations. Using techniques such as those found in his V-Trigger 2, Gill can put the opponent into tough spots that cover multiple recovery options and cause them to have to work hard to escape unscathed.

Edwards demonstrates how Gill's V-Skills work, with more details on his V-Skill 2: "Blocking." This parry can counter high/mid and low attacks (with two separate inputs), and recovery time is very short after a successful parry. We see Gill parry the first hit of Chun-Li's Critical Art and immediately counter with a crouching light punch.

Speaking of light punches, Gill's arsenal includes a 3-frame jab, as well as some of the best combo-ability we've seen in Street Fighter 5 ever.

Gill is set to join the Street Fighter 5 roster later this month. He will also be included in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition when it drops on February 14, 2020.
