Origin of Storms is an upcoming indie fighting game inspired by Marvel vs. Capcom with a touch of Bloody Roar
There seems to be a bit of a Marvel vs. Capcom vacuum in the fighting game community right now, but a few independent developers are currently working on a new title by the name of Origin of Storms that looks to pay a little homage to the legendary franchise while adding a bit of its own personal touch. We reached out to one of the game's creators, Jaime Silva, for a few more details on Origin. He happily obliged and told us the following.
"Origin of Storms is a fighting game much like the Marvel vs Capcom series in which players employ normal attacks to build special meters to perform special attacks. What sets Origin of Storms apart is that the characters have the ability to transform into powerful elemental beings that not only change their moveset but boost each character in a unique way."
The first thing that likely comes to mind at this point might be the Devil Trigger transformation that both Dante and Vergil go through to ascend into more powerful forms of themselves.
"Some characters will have heightened attack power while others may get a speed boost," continued Silva. "The transformation to and from their elemental states will allow players to come up with unique strategies on how to overcome their foes in battle."
The Origin of Storms team is looking to release their game on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch with a roster of 10 characters. Their plan is to have early access for Patreon and Kickstarter supporters (both coming soon) by the end of this year.
For now, you can see some of the game in action via the clips and videos below. If you'd like to see more you can visit the OoS Twitter page, Facebook page, YouTube channel, or check out their Discord discussions.
