Why is there an outcry to ban Kid Goku from Dragon Ball FighterZ tournaments? Rooflemonger reviews the topic

Not too long ago, FOX|SonicFox made a bold declaration on Twitter that stated his beliefs that Kid Goku should be banned from Dragon Ball FighterZ events, despite how fun the character is. While only having been recently released, Kid Goku has already proven himself to be among the best in the game — if not THE best.

So what makes this character so strong? Rooflemonger has released a video that provides an overview on the topic.

With Kid Goku around, basically every top player is incorporating him onto their teams. As a result, character and team diversity has dropped significantly. There really aren't any good reasons to not use Kid Goku if you want to win.

Back in Season 1, Bardock had access to an Okizeme (mix up after knockdown) situation after hitting opponents with his level 3 super. The development team essentially stated that this was not OK when they nerfed Bardock.

Strangely, Kid Goku has access to what Bardock lost with his level 3 super. In addition to this, Kid Goku also has a fantastic assist and is just an all-around powerful fighter.

Character bans for fighting games tend to be exceedingly rare. The most notable example of a combatant being overused in the tournament scene that required this was Akuma in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

These days, we live in an age where games can be patched and updated. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there will be any balance adjustments until the end of the year.

Rooflemonger does make it clear that he does not believe a ban is necessary, but does note that Kid Goku's presence in the game is affecting the team diversity.
