Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be voicing the Terminator T-800 in Mortal Kombat 11

Sadly the icon won't be part of the fighting game after all

Mortal Kombat 11 announced its full DLC roster earlier in the week including the long-rumored Terminator T-800.

Many people were hoping that since Warner Bros. managed to get the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger, he'd also be voicing the role that made him a star, but unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the case after all.

Multiple sources reportedly confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that the actor is not involved in the fighting game project and will instead be voiced by a sound-a-like in game.

As soon as the Terminator was rumored for Mortal Kombat 11, ears started perking up wondering if they were going to be getting a generic robotic endoskeleton or if Arnie would actually be featured as a fighter.

Mortal Kombat Co-creator Ed Boon took to Twitter after the Kombat Pack reveal to say "part of me still can’t believe we got Arnold," though I guess now we know that means they just got the rights to use his face.

One can't help but wonder if his push to restrict the sale of violent video games to minors during his stints as governor of California influenced his decision.

"The video games our children play are much, much more violent than anything in this movie," said Schwarzenegger back in 2014 while promoting the film Sabotage.

Now, his face will be used in one of the most violent mainstream games this generation, so there's a little bit of irony to be found in this deal still.

The Terminator T-800 will be the next character to release for Mortal Kombat 11 on October 8 seemingly as part of a tie in with the Terminator: Dark Fate film coming out the following month.

What do you think of this development? Are you upset Arnold will not be voicing the Terminator in MK11?
