The approach of fall means The Big House tournament is nearing. All the Super Smash Bros. titles will be there.

Well known for its prestige, they have raised the bar even more for a Smash only tournament. Scratch that, they've raised the bar for competitive FGC tournaments. The Big House officially announced that there will be therapy dogs on-site for the first two days of the tournament to help players relax and de-stress.

How many times have you felt deflated after losing a close set? Maybe you got double eliminated by the same person, maybe you didn't play as well as you wanted to or lost in a last hit situation.

It might've been your time to play on the stream and you have a big name player as your opponent. You can't shake the anxiety, and you play bad as a result.

The Big House staff has the perfect answer. They partnered with Go Team Therapy Dogs Detroit and now will have therapy dogs on-site for the first two days of the tournament.

A therapy dog is a dog trained to deal with people experiencing emotional discomfort. There job is to make you feel better.

There will be an isolated/contained area for the dogs, so those who have allergies won't be affected.

There's nothing to cheer you up like a cute puppy or a loyal dog to make you feel better. A cheerful dog awaits to help comfort you and ease your feelings.

This is an unprecedented move for a tournament to do, and definitely separates them from the pack. To provide such a service should go a long way in helping competitors feel better and comfortable at their tournament.

Personally, this is a giant win in my book. It knocks out two things with one punch. We get something for anxiety and depression, and then any time a pup is around you gotta love it in general. Unless you have allergies, that is.

What do you think of this move by TBH? Are you a fan of it? What would you add to a tournament for competitors?
