Never let your guard down on the Ice Climbers in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nana can still score a KO even with Popo flying off in the distance

The Ice Climbers have one of the more interesting histories within the Super Smash Bros. series from their zero-to-death chain grabs to being cut in Smash 4, and their unique design continues to lead to new discoveries and fun moments for the pair.

A Japanese Smash player by the name of Kie recently posted a humorous clip online of a match between the Ice Climbers and Pokemon Trainer that shows off why you should never count out the siblings even if Popo is in the process of getting KO'd himself.

Everything appears to be going in the trainer's favor having clipped Popo on his last stock with Ivysaur's up-special sending the brother off the top of the screen for a Star KO, but even then the match wasn't technically over.

In a nice turn of quick thinking, Nana ran over to the now relaxed Pokemon to whack them with a hard up-air to instantly steal back the win from impending defeat mere frames away from Popo fading into a star in the background.

This can be done because while the player does not have normal direct control over Nana during gameplay, she will still act upon inputs used for her brother on a slight delay even if he is otherwise incapacitated leading her to act on her own.

Using that delay with more mastery can lead to some very powerful de-synchronized combos in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with both climbers performing different moves, but that hasn't been good enough to make them as scary as their Melee or Brawl incarnations.

You can check out the clip below to see why it's probably best to always stay alert in matches even when your win appears to be guaranteed.
