Over the weekend, one of the largest fighting game tournaments of the year, EVO 2019, played out. As this event gets larger and larger, fighting game developers have become more interested in making announcements here.

This year was obviously no exception. For those that missed out on some of the reveals, we've got a review of everything that happened right here.

First of all, let's talk about some of the game developers that announced things shortly before EVO 2019.

Nightwolf's trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 was shown a day before EVO started. This means that NetherRealm Studios didn't have anything to show during the Mortal Kombat 11 top eight.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also released Hero just earlier in the week. Since we already know about Banjo-Kazooie, there weren't any surprise reveals regarding the fourth and fifth characters of the Fighters Pass.

Finally, E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison accidentally leaked on Steam for Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. Notably though, we apparently have some announcements incoming for November and December.

Riot Games

There's been a number of rumors circulating, but Riot Games has revealed that they are in fact working on a fighting game. Having said that, no concrete details or trailers were shown.

It looks as though it will still be quite a bit of time before we learn anything more beyond this.

ArcSys Works and French Bread

ArcSys works came out swinging this year. Janemba's trailer was revealed for Dragon Ball FighterZ, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Version 2.0 will be adding Senran Kagura and Akatsuki Blitzkampf to the roster, and a new Guilty Gear game was announced.

We now know that Janemba will be available in Dragon Ball FighterZ on August 8, 2019. Senran Kagura and Akatsuki Blitzkampf are likely going to drop on November 11, 2019 for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

As for the new Guilty Gear game, it's slated for a 2020 release.

Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[cl-r] is also being developed by French Bread. In addition to balance adjustments and new moves, Londrekia has been revealed to be a new fighter that's joining the list of characters.

We got brief glimpses at Samurai Shodown's entire first season of characters during a trailer. Gameplay was revealed for Rimururu, Basara, Kazuki Kazama, and Wan-Fu.

In addition to this, Shizumaru Hisame will be coming as a surprise addition in September. The best part about all this is that the character is completely free.

A second season for Samurai Shodown was also shown. The first character to join this season is Mina Majikina.

Finally, we also got to see the new logo for King of Fighters 15. No release date was provided.

Bandai Namco

Cassandra was announced for Soul Calibur 6, and is now available today. It also appears that Haohmaru from the Samurai Shodown series will be joining later as a guest character.

Zafina and newcomer Leroy Smith are coming to Tekken 7 as part of the third season. We should also get access to two additional characters, a stage, and a "new feature" as part of the third season pass.
