Back during the weekend of April 19, we saw the return of the Pound major Super Smash Bros. tournament series in Laurel, Maryland after a three-year hiatus. Featuring the two competitive Super Smash Bros. titles on the scene right now — Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — many of the best players from both games were in attendance.

After a difficult trek through the losers side of the Melee bracket, Juan "Liquid|Hungrybox" Debiedma made his way to grand finals where he defeated C9|Mango with an impressive 3-0 after resetting the bracket. Hungrybox's celebratory moment was tarnished, however, when an audience member threw a raw crab onto the stage — aimed at HBox — right as the two competitors finished playing their sets.

Footage captured by Smash Bros. commentator and Pound 2019 attendee CONEY shows the offender toss the crab at HungryBox, which lands very close by him and causes him to pick it and look around the stage upset and bewildered. According to Phil "EE" Visu, another commentator at the event, the person responsible was caught and ejected from the venue.

Co-founder of VG Boot Camp, Aposl — who took part in running Pound 2019 — stated on Twitter shortly after the incident that the person would be banned from future Smash Bros. tournaments. "We will be perma banning the guy btw," Aposl wrote. "Probably will not be releasing his name publicly but will be submitting it to other Tournament Organizers."

In the heat of the moment, HungryBox was rightfully very upset about what happened. "Sorry for losing my temper. Someone threw a f****** raw crab at me," Debiedma said on Twitter that night after the tournament. "After a 5 set losers run. Barely missed my head. What the f*** man? Anyway GGs, no clue how I won that."

With the dust settling now over a week after the unfortunate incident, HungryBox seems a lot calmer about what went down. In a new video over on his YouTube channel, HBox addresses what happened and embraces a bit of the humor that stemmed from it.

The new video is titled "Hungrybox Gets REVENGE On The Crab," and though he does give a fairly serious recollection of what happened and his thoughts, the latter portion of this video does lean more toward the humorous side.

"I remember I was shaking Mango's hand and it felt like a foot away from me, maybe one or two feet away and it fell to the ground" HungryBox started. "I know everyone is like, 'it's just a crab,' but I wish you guys could have actually picked this thing up and seen it. It's sharp."

"Luckily the guy had really bad aim or whatever he was trying to do," HungryBox continued. "Whether he was intending to hit me or not, or he was drunk, or he was just trying to make a ruse, who knows what the intent was of the dude."

HungryBox goes on to say that he doesn't know who the person was that threw the crab and that he is letting the tournament organizers handle things.

As an act of revenge on the crustacean chucker and to serve his own personal justice, HungryBox's latest video sees him chomping down some tasty crab of his own. Ordered from Red Lobster, HBox tears at his meal, bringing out the butter dipping sauce for maximum deliciousness.

Of course, this video also features quality Super Smash Bros. Ultimate play too, so there's a lot here to enjoy.
