NetherRealm Studios addresses Mortal Kombat 11 issues with Towers of Time and The Krypt in latest Kombat Kast; patch and rewards coming soon

Mortal Kombat 11 launched earlier this week to mostly strong, positive reviews though players were quick to point out issues with the title's in-game economy and some of the game's modes which the developers have quickly taken to heart.

NetherRealm Studios held somewhat of an emergency Kombat Kast yesterday, April 24, to address what they've already done to improve Towers of Time and The Krypt and what will be coming in the very near future to make the experiences even better — with some bonus incentives coming for players.

Tyler Lansdown and Derek Kirtzic revealed that a server-side update went live Tuesday night that made Towers much easier to complete by reducing the computer's maximum health, adjusting frequency of modifiers like rockets and made many unblockable modifiers blockable to try and make things more fun.

"I want to be very clear about this," said Lansdown. "This is maybe the most important part of this thing for me. [Mortal Kombat 11] was never designed to encourage in-game purchases."

Only cosmetics and easy Fatalities can be purchased with real money; the developers stressed once again that there is no way to buy the in-game currency or consumables to use in Towers or The Krypt.

NetherRealm is currently working on a patch "as quickly as they can" to address other factors like increasing currency rewards, tweaking other modifier values and giving players a large chunk of the in-game currencies to partially make up for some of the issues.

There currently is no solid release date for the new update, but NRS aims to have it ready to go live by the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

Lansdown and Kirtzic state that they are still going to keep the planned difficult aspects of Towers challenging, but they want to tone down things that players are not having fun with.

The pair also went into more detail about The Krypt's rewards system saying that everyone's maps will be different though they'll contain the same items in totality. Each player has their own unique version of The Krypt with almost 600 treasures to unlock that can be found in different locations on the map for everyone except special ones like Shao Kahn chests.
