Mortal Kombat 11 might be receiving a special eSports stage for the Pro Kompetition

This could be the equivalent to the Capcom Pro Tour stages we see each year

Yesterday, Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios announced the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition. This year-long tournament circuit will have $255,000 on the line (overall) and will see 16 of the world's best competitors slug it out at the finals in March 2020.

The reveal came along with a trailer, and toward the end of the showcase we caught a quick glimpse of a Mortal Kombat 11 stage we have not yet seen before. From the looks of it, this might be a special tournament circuit stage for the Pro Kompetition, much like we see with the "Ring" stages for the Capcom Pro Tour.

The new backdrop sees the fighters doing battle upon a large stage. We see big production lights hanging from rafters above, and arcade cabinets lining the back featuring other NetherRealm games such as Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, and Mortal Kombat Deception.

Additionally, there are banners and screens all over the stage that display the NetherRealm Studios logo and various Mortal Kombat images, and if you look closely you'll see a cheering crowd at the bottom of the screen.

Considering that this stage was unveiled with the announcement of the major tournament circuit for Mortal Kombat 11, there's a good chance this might be a special stage used to help promote the Pro Kompetition and events.

Like we see with the various Capcom Pro Tour stages — Ring of Destiny, Ring of Pride, Ring of Power, and Ring of Justice — the banners and screens in the background could be used to advertise major events on the tour by displaying logos for tournaments like Combo Breaker and EVO when they're taking place. From what we've seen so far, this new Mortal Kombat 11 stage has all of the same traits you'd find in such a stage, and with NRS' great involvement with the fighting game community, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them implement something like this into the game.
