Joker's gameplay in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been officially revealed by Nintendo.

This is our first in-game look at Atlus's Persona 5 representative. He is armed with a knife and pistol which are both used in his moveset.

Shoot opponents with using the gun by inputting the neutral special command. Continuous shots will be fired either with rapid presses or holding the button down.

It's also stated that Joker will be allowed to dodge forward, backwards, and in mid-air while shooting his gun. Seems like a fairly versatile move.

Joker is even armed with a tether recovery. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, these are very useful as hogging the ledge won't prevent it from working.

This tether is activated with Joker's up special. Inputting up and special will have Joker shoot his grappling hook. Can be fired at a diagonal angle and can drag opponents closer to Joker.

His side special throws a projectile called the "Eiha." Although this doesn't deal a lot of damage, it acts like a poison in that it deals damage over time.

Like Little Mac, Cloud, and Inkling, Joker is also armed with a special meter mechanic. Once his bar is filled up, he can summon his Persona directly behind him.

This meter will automatically build as Joker takes damage. Its growth is even greater when behind in the stock count.

As for his down special, this puts Joker in a "Rebel's Guard" stance. When hit during this, he'll greatly reduce damage and nullify knock back.

He'll also build meter by doing this. Rebel's Guard can be held for an extended period of time to absorb multiple attacks. Upon release, nearby opponents will be knocked away.

When the Persona is summoned, his attacks will have additional damage and properties added to them. His special moves will completely change while in this state.

His neutral special will cause him to fire off three bullets per shot. His up special will have his Persona elevate him with wings. Although it doesn't deal damage, it grants invincibility.

The Persona empowered version of the side special is called Eigaon. It works very similarly to Ness's PK Fire, except more abridged.

As for the down special, it'll become one of two counter attacks. Melee attacks will cause a powerful counter hit while projectiles will trigger the reflector.

Be advised that the Persona itself has no hurtbox. You can't attack it, so don't bother trying.

Joker can also use his high school attire as an alternate costume. When his Persona is summoned, he'll remove either his mask or glasses.

The stage that he'll come with is called Mementos. In addition to this, there will be 11 tracks from the Persona series that will change the colors of the Mementos stage based on which music is playing.

Tracks include, but are not limited to, Last Surprise; Beneath the Mask (new arrangement); Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There; Rivers in the Desert; and Our Beginning.

With the 3.0 update, Mii Costumes for Morgana, the Persona 4 protagonist, Teddie, the Persona 3 protagonist, Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog), and Knuckles (Sonic the Hedgehog).

Stage builder will also be returning as a mode. Needless to say, the options that are offered here are greater than those featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and 4.

In handheld mode, you can draw to create surfaces for the characters to fight on. Moving and spinning platforms can be created.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will now have a video editor too. Finally, we'll be able to share the content.

Videos, custom stages, and Mii Fighters can be downloaded from other users. Streaming will be handled by YouTube via the Smash World app.

All of this will be released tomorrow on April 17, 2019.
