Joker gameplay for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate remains a complete mystery despite us being in the middle of April

Official information about the upcoming Persona 5 character is very minimal

So what do we know for sure about Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? He, along with musical tracks and a stage, will be released before the end of April, very likely in conjunction with the 3.0.0 update. That's about the full extent of official information.

Seeing as how we're in the middle of April, there are only about 14 days left before Joker is released in order to make that "end of April" deadline. And yet... we haven't seen a single second of his actual gameplay.

More specifically, we've only gotten a glimpse of Joker dropping down and remaining crouched within a black background. Unfortunately, his model was facing away from the camera the whole time.

Regardless, this tells us absolutely nothing about what Joker will be able to do in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We don't get to see any of his attacks or observe any of his attributes.

Is he fast or heavy? How easily can he string combos together? Simply put, we have absolutely no information here.

Joker's playstyle is still a complete unknown. Being that he's a third party character, he'll probably have a lot of unique abilities that could require some explaining.

Last week, there were some rumors floating around that there would be a Nintendo Direct incoming before Reggie Fils-Aime was officially retired. Theoretically, we would see Joker's gameplay at this time. Obviously, this didn't happen.

Of course, Masahiro Sakurai can be quoted in stating that Joker will be arriving soon. "I'm sorry to keep you waiting on Joker's release, but it's almost time now," said Sakurai.

More information will be coming about Persona 5 S on April 24th. It's been speculated that we could also be learning more about Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate near this time period.

Rumors and supposed datamining suggests that Joker will have some alternate costume that involves a ponytail. After this information emerged, we learned of a new female character sporting a ponytail in the Royal trailer. Coincidence?

If this is the case, then we will likely have to wait until more is revealed about this mysterious female character so that she could be shown in a trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Will we get a gameplay trailer before Joker is officially released? Or will he simply just drop without warning with the version 3.0 patch?

In the case of the Piranha Plant, we were only shown his gameplay back in November. Nintendo previously told everyone that the character would be made available in Februrary, but he became playable on January 29, 2019 along with the version 2.0.0 update without any prior notice.

Still, even as someone who has never played the Persona series and has absolutely no idea what Joker's abilities are in Persona 5, I'm very eager to see what the character will be all about in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Needless to say, there's a lot of anticipation about this character and Nintendo is strangely remaining silent about him.
