TAS team Super Smash Bros. Melee combo video really demonstrates the 'wombo combo' possibilities

Super Smash Bros. Melee still sees competitive play nearly 18 years after it was first released. Although later entries have been added to the series, to many it just isn't the same without Super Smash Bros. Melee's intricate combo system.

Alex Hall recently released a TAS — tool assisted speedrun — combo video that demonstrates what could be possible with inhuman team coordination.

The term "wombo combo" originated from a situation that pitted a team of Fox and Captain Falcon against a single Fox player after his teammate was eliminated. It was pretty hype for the time, but players have gotten much better since then.

Many of the combos featured in Alex Hall's video shows combos that are more involved and even crazier. Team attack is shown to be on as Roy counters Captain Falcon's Falcon Punch at one point to finish the job in one particular sequence.

Seeing as how all the combos require near perfect spacing and coordination, these might not be possible for humans to do without the assistance of certain tools.

Fox's down special — also known as the shine in Melee — is a particularly good attack as its hitbox comes out in one frame. Perfect for TAS combo videos...

Here's a sequence featuring 36 shines in in less than 10 seconds between the two teammates:
