One of the Super Smash Bros. Melee Gods left in shock and awe at opponent's insane play at tournament

Super Smash Bros. Melee was released over 17 years ago. Despite this, the game still sees competitive play to this very day.

You would think that someone like Liquid|HungryBox — one of the "Gods of Melee" — has already seen everything that the game has to offer. Well, that's not exactly true...

Yesterday, the grand finals of the Overlords of Orlando Ultimate Edition tournament pitted HungryBox against 20GX|Gahtzu. HungryBox was using Jigglypuff while Gahtzu opted to fight as Captain Falcon.

Considering HungryBox's substantial lead over his opponent, it was very clear that HungryBox was in control of this match and set. It looked like it was just another day for HungryBox. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Despite this, Gahtzu wasn't giving up. He wasn't going to go down without a fight. Eventually, he caught HungryBox completely off guard with a very unorthodox play.

From the ledge, he approached HungryBox's Jigglypuff backwards in the air. With perfect spacing, he was able to nail Hungrybox with a knee just as he released shield.

Just by looking at the expression on HungryBox's face, you can tell he was completely stunned by this amazing hit. After taking a moment to process what had just happened, HungryBox was able to compose himself and deal the final blow to win the tournament.

Still, it's clear that Gahtzu earned himself the respect of HungryBox and the rest of the community by pulling this off.
