Chun-Li was the most popular combatant in the top 32 of April Annihilation 2019's Street Fighter 5 event, here are the character usage stats

The Street Fighter 5 event at the April Annihilation 2019 tournament is down to the final eight competitors. This is a Capcom Pro Tour event so players are gunning for those ranking points in this early part of the season.

Once again, it's time for us to analyze which characters are making it to the upper portions of the tournament bracket. It's this type of data that can help us understand which fighters tend to be trending and their overall potential.

You might be surprised to hear that Cammy was not the most popular character this time around. That honor goes to Chun-Li and Rashid (if you count secondaries).

Fighters that have previously been known as top tiers ended up tying for second place. They include Cammy, Ibuki, M. Bison, and Guile. There were two players behind each of them.

You'd typically expect there to be nobody using combatants like Ed, Nash, Kage, and Laura while still remaining somewhat successful. At April Annihilation 2019, one player for each of these characters made it into the top 32.

Unfortunately for Ryu, Sagat, Sakura, Urien, Birdie, and Balrog fans, nobody pulled them out during by this point in the tournament.
