New commercial for the game makes the reveal

Another returning character joins Mortal Kombat 11's playable roster. Fan-wielding princess, Kitana, has been officially revealed.

The announcement comes by way of a new commercial that features a cinematic battle between Scorpion and the newly announced Kitana.

The commercial was shared by the official Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter account this morning.

With the trailer not featuring actual gameplay of Kitana, a confirmation that she is actually playable might be suspect. However, the Twitter page went ahead and dropped a follow-up tweet to the new trailer with the hashtag "#KitanaKonfirmed," which we've seen in the past for characters like Erron Black who ended up playable as well.

This isn't the first time we're seeing Kitana in Mortal Kombat 11. Early Story Mode footage showed the princess of Edenia in her undead Revenant form, but only in cut-scenes. Kitana first made her debut in Mortal Kombat 2 (1993), and she fights using her trademark steel fans.

Mortal Kombat 11's official launch is fast approaching, and with it NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have been unveiling the remainder of the playable roster at a rapid pace. Just recently, two of the game's three original newcomers were revealed: Elder God Cetrion and Shao Kahn's right hand man, known as The Kollector.

If you're as anxious as I am to play Mortal Kombat 11, you won't have to wait much longer. You'll be able to get it on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on April 23.
