SNK held a special live stream recently to detail the three new characters in Samurai Shodown's roster, Darli Dagger, Wu-Ruixiang and Yashamaru Kurama, along with the fighting game's final release date of June 27 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The aforementioned stream also gave us more details as to what to expect for the title's future DLC as well as what other goodies lie in store for fans of the long-dormant series.

Samurai Shodown will receive a Season Pass that includes four characters for 2,000 yen — around $18 USD. The first new fighter is scheduled to release in August followed by additional inclusions in October, December and February 2020. We currently do not know any other details about which characters will be featured as DLC.

Players that purchase the game in its first few weeks after release — at least in Japan — can receive special retro 3D costumes for Haohmaru and Nakoruru that look straight out of the PlayStation 2 or even PSX. Haohmaru's old look will be available for purchasers of the Standard Edition / Deluxe Pack while Nakoruru's will come with the Deluxe Pack with Season Pass Bonus before July 16. No release information for places outside of Japan have been announced.

SNK's online shop has a special Limited Edition version of Samurai Shodown currently available for 30,000 yen — $268 — that comes with an old-school NeoGeo game case, art book, copy of the game and a framed piece of art of Haohmaru and Genjuro by Yumi Saji.

Players looking to play the SamSho revival on the Nintendo Switch or PC will need to wait a bit longer than their other console counterparts, as the release date for those two SKUs are currently scheduled for Winter 2019. An arcade port is said to be coming sometime this Summer.

Official character descriptions of Darli, Wu-Ruixiang and Yashamaru are also available and have been translated by Gematsu which you can check out below along with the official character trailer of the complete roster.

Yashamaru Kurama

"A young, fallen samurai. He hates villains who exploit wealth from the weak, and moves in the shadows as the chivalrous thief known as the “Karasu Tengu (Crow-Billed Goblin).” In the past, his father was executed on false charges, and his hatred for the Shogunate is deeper than anyone other. He fights wielding his memento nagamaki sword, and uses the power of the tengu (long-nosed goblin) passed down for generations."

Wu-Ruixiang

"A descendant of an ancient and honorable feng shui clan, Wu-Ruixiang is a woman who serves the Qing dynasty. With a mission is to protect generations of long mai, she travels to various places under the emperor’s command. She is wise, but extremely clumsy. She also dreads exercise as she tends to seclude herself indoors. She calls forth powers of divine beasts, and her secret art can even summon a dragon."

Darli Dagger

"A shipwright who has mastered the use of various tools. She washed ashore an island at an early age, where carpenters taught her how to make things and pirates taught her how to protect herself and survive. She is currently building a ship said to be unsinkable with her comrades at the island’s workshop."
